Tom works day and night on our ManaBar project, a bar that has definitely been missing from the Basel gaming scene: a place where you can meet people who share a passion for games. Although he manages a large part of the back office, his passion is for the bar and its guests, so be sure to ask him for his cocktail recommendation. Of course, he also loves gaming and has even studied game design at the ZHdK and created a few games during this time!
Nick is currently training to become a primary school teacher. In addition to his studies, he is treasurer of the VAISk association and is actively involved in the background management of the ManaBar. He has been involved in the project since the very beginning and has put countless hours of work, diligence and even some blood into the renovation. From time to time you can also see him as PubQuiz host on Wednesdays.
Nick is a passionate gamer and attaches great importance to socialising in the ManaBar. For him, it's not just the gaming that takes centre stage, but also the community and the unique atmosphere that is created in the bar.
Nora has been with us from the very beginning. First as an interested and generous backer of our Kickstarter and shortly afterwards she founded the company with us and made sure that everyone stayed grounded in reality and focussed. She has a knack for organising everything and everyone, without this many things would probably not work for us! She does a lot of the bar's HR and makes sure we get paid at the end of the day. Of course she loves playing games, but she also loves biology. If you look closely around the bar, you might see her green thumb in action.
Fernando is a game enthusiast and of course he also plays avidly in his available free time. He played a leading role in the early development of the ‘ManaBar’ project and soon put together a team that was just as motivated as he was. Today, if he's not trying out a new and interesting game, he'll probably be in the bar tinkering with a new cocktail or getting involved in nature and technology! He is also the president of our association, VAISk, and organises their events, among other things. If you would like to upgrade the gaming culture of Basel and actively participate or realise a project yourself, then write to him without hesitation!
Tobias first joined the ManaBar team in 2020 as our Esports Manager and has been a huge asset to the esports side of the bar. Since 2019, he has regularly organised the Orcus in our location with the flagship Smash Bros Melee tournament on the Nintendo Switch. Hit him up if you want to organise anything esports related or if you just want to challenge him to a 1v1!
